Arghhhhhhh....Technical Glitch again?

I am so pissed today. I can/t even trust the bank now. I went to do some shopping today and bought myself some jackets. Total bill came up to about 70USD. I took out my debit card and passed to the cashier. However, to my surprise, the cashier told me that she was not able to process the transaction using my card. I was so utterly embarrassed. I do have not enough cash with me. Luckily my friend was around and she came to my rescue and helped pay for my clothes. We went to Applebee restaurant next for a quick drink and the same thing happened. They were not able to process the transaction. Initially I thought it was a technical glitch. I am certain that I have more then enough money in my account and hence am absolutely sure its not overdrawn. I called howard and he too experienced the same problem in Louisiana.

I called the bank immediately. Initially the lady on the other line told me that my account was overdrawn and there was insufficient cash. I was puzzled. I got her to list down every transactions made in the last one month and apparently, there was a huge withdrawal in the form of cheque of over 2k made. I am very certain we did not write this cheque as such dispute the validity of it. She came back to me 10mins later and told me that she was very sorry and apparently was a bank error and they are going to reimburse me immediately. Duh... how could they make such a big mistake? I was lucky that 1) its a big withdrawal and as such caught my attention and 2) luckily I did not have too much cash in the account and as hence it shows that my account was overdrawn which prompted me to investigate This is simply not acceptable. What sort of security is that. This reminded me of an incident that happened back home

I could still remember this clearly as this happened on my wedding March 12 2004. Back in June 2004, I received a statement from POSB. I usually disregard the statement as it just shows the debit/credit of my card. In addition, I hardly uses POSB ATM card anyway. The only time I used it is for the automatic MRT card top-up. It's really difficult to monitor when was it automatically top up as it just credit 20SGD every time it goes below 0 and as such, I hardly scrutinize the statement. Well, something caught my eyes in the June statement (POSB send me the statement semi-annually). There was a top-up on March 12. Errr... how could I be on a public transport on my wedding?????? I brought it down to the customer service counter and after 2 weeks of investigations, they too blamed it on technical error. What sort of error is this. How many people out there got caught in that error but never found that out. If not for that exact date, it would never catch my attention.

Guys... as such, call me old fashion.... call me out dated... I do not trust technology anymore especially if money is involved.....
